The 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ will have for the last time the usual format for final tournaments, starting with 32 teams divided in 8 groups of 4. Begining with the next edition of 2026 the number of qualified teams will be raised to 48. For this edition you can see the detailed groups listed in the table below.

This format will provide us with 48 enticing games in the Group Stage between November 20th and December 2nd, a shorther than usual time frame as well, as in fact is the case for the entire tournament that will span for less than a month, 29 days to be precise.
The Round of 16 games will be played between December 3rd and 6th, the Quarter Finals on December 9th and 10th while the Semi Finals will take place on December 13th and 14th. The 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ Final will be played at the Lusail Stadium on December 18th while the third place play-off will be hosted on July 17th by the Al Rayyan (Khalifa) Stadium in Doha.
